Horsley is a small village, lying just over a mile from the market town of Nailsworth. There is an excellent choice of restaurants and the town is served by some interesting shops run by independent traders.
It is surrounded by beautiful countryside that is blessed with an extensive range of footpaths and enjoys easy access to the Cotswold Way.
Bristol, Bath and Cheltenham are all within easy reach, with travel by road being generally no more than 40 minutes. Tetbury, Cirencester and Painswick are also situated within a 30 minute drive and as smaller towns provide real charm as well as places of historic interest.
Equestrian activities play a prominent part in local life with Hollingham House ideally situated for a visit to Badminton and the Gatcombe horse trials.
Barton End Stables is a licensed riding centre, based on a family run farm just outside Nailsworth, for those keen to pursue horse riding as an activity . It offers a wide range of lessons, from lead rein experience for young children to dressage, jumping and cross country for the more experienced rider. Led by a qualified member of staff you can take a gentle stroll through hidden valleys or canter across unspoilt countryside.
For those interested in golf we are well served by two first class 18 hole courses at Minchinhampton and one 18 hole course at Cotswold Edge, just outside Wotton-under-Edge. Both are within a 15 minute journey.
Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, is also located within a 15 minute journey. It was planted in the heyday of Victorian plant hunting in the mid-19th century and is today one of the finest tree collections in the world. It comprises some 18,000 trees and shrubs over an area of 600 acres with 17 miles of marked paths set within a beautiful Grade One listed historic landscape.
